Cooking Tips and Techniques

1. Always store spices in a cool and dark place. Light and heat usually causes herbs and spices to lose their flavor more quickly. They no longer remain fresh and loose their strong aromas.

2. Always dip and keep your wooden skewers in water for about an hour before using them for grilling in microwave. This helps the skewers from getting burnt.

3. Learnt this from my aunt. You can prevent tears by Chewing gum when cutting onions.

4. When frying bhindi add 1/4 tsp lemon juice. This will remove the stickiness from it and it cooks faster.

5. When cooking rice, add half a spoon of lime juice to it. The rice grains become more white when cooked.

6. You can soften paneer either by immersing it in hot water or by putting it inside a plastic wrap and heating it in the microwave for around 25 seconds on medium heat.
